Blurb:
There are those who spend their whole lives in the dark places. People who quietly keep the Imperium running, using methods we pretend not to know about.
To us these people are merely shadows, flickering in the edge of our vision – and we prefer it that way.
If you spend your entire life in darkness and a shadow falls over you, how could you tell?
A single session Traveller game for 5 agents of the Imperium.

Characters:
Colonel Venki Khiikanu-Jones (98A769-?)
Tactical Specialist
Male Vilani-Solomani, in his mid 40s, upper class.
He retired from the Imperial Marines as a full Colonel. He has a limp as a result of an injury received during his time in the Marines and he is now working for the Imperial Intelligence Service (IIS) as he can pass their more lax physical exams.
The Khiikanu-Jones family tradition in the Marines goes back a long way – Venki has seen action in many planetary scale wars and is a veteran of the 5th Interstellar War. He is a bona fide war hero. He is responsible for the tactical side of the mission, from securing a building to defending it, from creating an ambush to surviving one.
Major Varl ap Kirku (779884-?)
Operations Specialist
Male Vilani, in his late 30s, lower class.
A senior agent for the Imperial Intelligence Service (IIS). As with all its senior agents, not much is known about Varl – he has never worked with anyone else on the team before. He is a last minute replacement for the previous Operations Specialist.
Varl’s job is to handle all operational planning and details for this mission and to keep the team on track. Coordinating a team such as this one has been likened to herding cats making this all the more difficult. On top of all this, the mission is “deniable” and therefore there will be no help from the IIS.
Lieutenant Cirencea Irkii (889787-?)
Intrusion Specialist
Female Vilani, in her late 20s, middle class.
Cirencea is a specialist in getting you where you need to be and meeting people, even without an appointment. She’s broken into more offices in the search for evidence of treason than you’ve had hot dinners. She’s equally handy with a computer, lockpick or gun.
Cirencea has been working for the Imperial Intelligence Service (IIS) her whole adult life and has seen the ugly side of keeping an empire together.
Paulo Ish Parna (6768AA-?)
Deep Cover Specialist
Male Vilani, in his late 40s, from a noble family.
Paulo is a human chameleon, trained to fit in to any place or situation; from high tea with the Emperor to a street craps game – he can operate anywhere and not seem out of place and, at the end of the day, get home to report.
Paulo is a quiet person who doesn’t talk much. He works for the Imperial Intelligence Service (IIS) in its intelligence gathering arm as a plant and occasional saboteur; he’s been doing that for the better part of 30 years.
Elsbeth Moore (6A8956-?)
Logistics Specialist
Female Solomani, in her late 20s, middle class.
Elsbeth is an independent soul, a free thinker, a woman at home in the ghettos – she’s not a team player, definitely not someone you’d suspect of be an agent for the Imperial Intelligence Service (IIS). It is widely known that Elsbeth is employed for her talents and contacts rather than for any loyalty she might have for the Imperium.
Her hobbies are gambling, drinking and petty crime – if you need it, then for a fee she can put you in touch with the right person. An odd set of skills for an agent perhaps but when you have to maintain plausible deniability then she’s the sort of person who can help provide resources without showing any visible ties back to the IIS.
