Williams' Crater
This is a big impact crater left from the first manned landing of Mars. The crater is located in the middle of the Kosski Plains that had been deemed the safest place for the expedition to land.
The expedition was led by [Commander Williams] and was made up predominantly of engineers whose mission was to conduct a detailed survey of the Martian surface.
The expedition members were all volunteers, as there was a chance that no suitable settlement or landing site could be found, and they would be stuck on Mars alone. The risk of stranding was not considered to be too great as there had been a great number of orbital surveys conducted.
