Portston

Portston was founded after a sail expedition found a nice beach in the midst of a dense forest of tall hardy trees. The city became the primary shipbuilding and lumber producing site on Mars, it is also a large producer of fresh and smoked fish.

Portston was only connected to the rest of the American Territories via the sea until XXXX years ago when a road was finally completed that connected the two cities. About the same time the road was completed, an entrepreneur tried to build a railway to Portston which ended in a tragic accident that killed the project.
Shipping routes are still the main way Portston is connected to the rest of the American Territories.
