The area of Mars controlled by America, there will be a map shortly.

Barsoom City

The first settlement on Mars, and its largest population centre, established by XXXX on XXXX.

Barsoom City East — One of two boroughs in Barsoom City, everything to the East of the railway tracks is included (technically including The Heights). Barsoom City East is seen as a nicer place to live than Barsoom City West.
Barsoom City West — One of two boroughs in Barsoom City, everything to the West of the railway tracks is included (technically including The Strada). This is seen as the cheaper place to live and where a "less desirable element" live.
The Heights — Up on a ridge to the east of the city and over the river XXXX there is an area with an outstanding view and is populated by the wealthy, in large mansions. The Governor's house is here too, to the south, only a short walk from the beach.
The Strada — Signage here calls it the "Strada delle Luci" but mostly it is just called "the Strada". More than just a single street, it is actually a network of interconnecting streets between the tourist sector and [Central Station]. These streets hold the brightly coloured lights and many side-alley shops that make up the city's red light district.

Barsoom City Orbital Platform

This is a train station in orbit above Barsoom City where ships going offworld dock. The platform currently the only orbital platform on Mars.

Originally built around a fort, this city grew and prospered, even in the middle of the Martian War. Its residents are proud of their history, especially of the fact that during the War they were a "city of decent white folk livin' in a sea of green". The city was renamed to Bastion during the War as an act of defiance.

Botros Ranges

The Botros Ranges are a large Mountain range that are difficult to cross, except via a hazardous and narrow pass.

Brownstone Canal

The canal is one of many covering the surface of Mars - this one is the largest found by the Americans.

Camp Devlin

The zeppelins of 31st Zeppelin Battalion are moored in a large, fenced off, field at the base of the pass through the Botros Ranges. Governor Devlin ordered their mountain posting 6 years ago to act as a bandit deterrent and as mountain rescue and he has been much praised for this move due to their effectiveness.

Fort Peninsula

This fort is the furthest American settlement from Barsoom City, it has only a skeleton crew and is predominantly a peacekeeping station.

Fort Wilderness

This is the American Army fort nearest Barsoom City. It was built before the War, alongside the railway tracks to help protect the trains from the natives and other brigands.

Haunted Hills

These are hills to the East of Barsoom City that many claim are haunted by Martian Zombie soldiers who are still fighting a war that's been a decade gone.

Kosski Plains

This is a very large, flat and fertile area of land to the North of Barsoom City; this region grows most of the grain that is needed by the residents of Barsoom City. The Kosski Plains were named after Paul Kosski, the mission planner who decided that the area would ideal for Williams' team to land.

Lake Menna

The lake is quite large and sits near the Botros Ranges. It is the primary source of water for the Thyme River, Brownstone Canal and Milligan's Swamp.

Milligan's Swamp — This is a large bayou between Lake Menna and the Botros Ranges.

New Florida

Placed in a temperate region, New Florida is a small fishing village and is only noteworthy because its location makes it the crossroads between Barsoom City, Bastion and Windsor.

Oretago

Oretago was built in XXXX on the shores of Lake Menna in an place that was a convenient transit point between Bastion and Barsoom City. Not long after it was built, a large ore lode was found and now almost all of the non-precious minerals are produced in Oretago. It is now a bustling cosmopolitan city and due to its proximity to the Open Territories, a variety of unusual people can be found on its streets - the adventurer types - people who willingly spend most of their time in the lawless Open Territories. These adventurers tend to have a roguish bent to them, they sell tall tales, trinkets and other things of dubious value and authenticity.

Portston

Portston was founded after a sail expedition found a nice beach in the midst of a dense forest of tall hardy trees. The city became the primary shipbuilding and lumber producing site on Mars, it is also a large producer of fresh and smoked fish.

Rancho Tropica

A family owned ranch that occupies most of the promontory to the South of New Florida. The tropical weather of that region allows the ranch to grow all manner of tropical and exotic fruits both Mars and Earth native.

Thyme River

The Thyme is a large river that runs from Lake Menna to the sea, splitting Barsoom City in two.

Urun Flats

Located in the Kosski Plains, the Urun Flats is about 20 miles North of the city and was the site of a major battle during the Martian War of Independence. Although several people have tried, nobody has ever managed to stay on the Urun Flats long enough to build or lay claim to it.

Williams' Crater

This is a big impact crater left from the first manned landing of Mars. The crater is located in the middle of the Kosski Plains that had been deemed the safest place for the expedition to land.
