OOC Rules
|
|
Just as we have system rules describing how characters can interact with the world and each other, so do we have some out-of-character rules for the players. Most are commonsense, some are due to the venue. Following these rules will help everyone enjoy themselves and the game flow smoothly.
 | Warning
If you are found to be in breach of these rules, you will be asked to stop. If you persist you will be asked to leave the game.
Players asked to leave will be allowed back only at the GMs' discretion. |
Out-of-character rules
- We expect a reasonable amount of out-of-character maturity from the players.
- Players can expect normal socially acceptable physical contact with other players (handshakes, hugs and so on). If you would prefer a different level of physical contact please let the other players know in a polite manner when appropriate. As we have some younger players, please be respectful of such wishes.
- No violence. No fighting with the props.
- No alcohol or other drugs at the game. If you are under the influence of such drugs you may be asked to leave.
- As GMs, we may call "freeze". This means stop right now, stand still, shut up and listen.
- The GMs decision is final. It you disagree with a decision a GM has made or have any other complaint, please wait until after the game session has finished. If you can't wait till after the game has finished, wait until GM is free and can focus on listening to you rather than running the other players in the game.
- Players may Timeout at any point, such as if they need a break or are feeling uncomfortable. They can make the Timeout signal or say Timeout. We ask all players to respect this. Players wishing to remain Out -of-Character for a while should move to the out-of-character area.
House rules
If we play at a location other than the ANU, those house rules will be in effect. The ANU house rules are listed below.
- Smoking is allowed outside. Please be considerate and don't smoke just outside the door of the classrooms where people are going in and out.
- The ANU Role Playing Society is graciously allowing us the use of ANU's room, so don't do anything that will reflect badly on ANURPS.
Props
A freeform is hardly a freeform without props. The GMs encourage players to bring props for their characters.
- No pretend fights with the props.
- All new props must be cleared by the GMs. Bring it to the next game and the GMs will let you know if you can use it.
- Replica weapons will only be allowed with both inital GM approval and an ongoing level of maturity in the prop's use from the player. Any legal issues involving the replica weapon are the responsibility of the owners.
- Preferred props include:
- Brightly coloured toy weapons
- Foam weapons
Teenage players
- We will allow you to play provided you are over the age of 15.
- You will need your parents permission to join the game. Please bring a signed document from your parents giving their consent.
Others need to be considerate of younger players.
